Scientific Instrument Society AGM 2024

July 15 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm BST

Our AGM this year will mainly be an online event via Zoom with the usual programme of reports from the Committee (documents will be circulated via email a month in advance). We generally expect members will join the meeting online, but attendance in person is possible and, if you wish, our Chair and host Neil Handley, Curator of The British Optical Association Museum at the College of Optometrists, has kindly offered to facilitate visits to the museum during the afternoon prior to the meeting, between 2pm and 6pm. This may include self-guided visits to the displays, the opportunity to use the BOA Library, or a chance to view specific objects by advance request. Please see the Museum’s database for more details.

Welcome to the British Optical Association Museum at the College of Optometrists, the museum of the eye care professions. Founded in 1901, it is the oldest museum of ophthalmic optics (optometry) in the world. Our remarkable collection comprises over twenty eight thousand outstanding items, including historic vision aids, spectacle frames and lenses, as well as diagnostic and sight-testing equipment, protective shades and goggles and gruesome models of ocular disease. We like to say that it’s the only museum where the exhibits look at you!

If you wish to join the AGM online, then no action is required as the documents and Zoom details will be emailed to all members.
If you wish to join the AGM in person at the College of Optometrists, then please register via our Executive Officer, Sarah Cavalier, via info@scientificinstrumentsociety.org by Monday 8th July.
Please contact Neil directly if you would also like to visit the museum on the afternoon of the AGM, or view a specific collection item: chair@scientificinstrumentsociety.org

Location: 42 Craven Street, London, WC2N 5NG. Nearest Tube and Train: Charing Cross or Embankment.

**Hybrid event, available both in person and online via Zoom**
